JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and Medical Director, the Intake Counselor provides clinical intake Screenings to individuals seeking treatment through the program. The Intake Counselor serves as a primary point of contact for community referral sources and coordination of care for transferring patients. The Intake Counselor assures that the intake system of the program is efficient, timely and responsive to patient and referral source need.

HOURS

This is a part time position and could require varied number of hours depending on intake volume. Hours of operation are M-F 5am-2pm, Sat 6-10am, Sun closed.

JOB FUNCTIONS (may include)

• Observes, collects and reports subjective and objective information of patients who are referred for treatment.
• Provides exceptional service and care to presenting patients and their families or significant others.
• Protects patient’s rights.
• Descriptively documents screening findings that reflects the principal reasons for seeking treatment.
• Conducts in-person Screenings and communicates with MD for appropriate levels of care.
• Collaborates directly with Clinical Supervisor and MD on the determination of admission to the program or to an alternative treatment setting if needed.
• Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate a person’s needs to physician so that accurate level of care determinations can be made.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively with all members of the treatment team.
• Coordinates and secures third-party authorization for admission to the program when needed.
• Records and maintains proper documentation for each intake screening.
• Assures all applicable program policies and procedures governing intake processes, communication and coordination of program admissions are followed and all actions are in compliance with such.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective screenings and awareness of alternate treatment options and services appropriate to all patient populations.
• Coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity. Able to multitask and prioritize workload.
• Must be able to clearly identify and articulate all services that CCBH has to offer to prospective patients and referral sources.
• Must be able to demonstrate pleasant mannerism while communicating with prospective patients even in times of high admissions and high stress.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Minimum of an Associates degree in a behavioral health field, Bachelor's preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Previous experience with behavioral health, specifically substance use disorders, is preferred but not required
